Major Champion and former World Number One Justin Rose will tee it up at Le Golf National later this year when the FedEx Open de France returns from October 10-13.
The Englishman will join home favourite Matthieu Pavon in the field taking on the stern test of L’Albatros Course at the 2018 Ryder Cup and 2024 Paris Olympics Games venue, with tickets now available to purchase.
Le Golf National holds special significance for Rose, who was a member of Europe’s victorious Ryder Cup side when golf’s greatest team contest was held at the venue six years ago, and he will be making his first appearance in the Open de France since 2012.
“I’m really excited to get back to Le Golf National in October,” said Rose. “It’ll actually be my first time back at the course since that incredible Ryder Cup week, so I’m looking forward to getting re-acquainted with the venue. I have some wonderful memories of that week and it’ll be great to return to Paris later this year.”
Rose, who won gold for Team GB at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, also won the U.S. Open in 2013 and five years later won the PGA TOUR’s season-long FedEx Cup as he joined a small list of players who have won the season-long standings on both sides of the Atlantic, following on from his Order of Merit victory on the DP World Tour in 2007.
Four of Rose’s 11 DP World Tour victories have been national opens, adding the Scottish Open, Hong Kong Open and two Turkish Opens to his U.S. Open success.
“FedEx is an organisation that has done a lot for golf in the United States and I think we’re all looking forward to seeing that impact at this year’s Open de France,” he continued. “Of course I’m very proud to have won a FedEx Cup in the past and it would mean a lot to add another historic national open to my trophy cabinet.”
The 43-year-old enjoyed a return to form in 2023 as he won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am – his first victory in four years – and then earned a Captain’s Pick from Luke Donald for the Ryder Cup at Marco Simone as he helped Europe regain the famous trophy.
This year marks the 106th edition of the prestigious tournament, celebrated as the oldest national open on Continental Europe. Past champions include legends of the game such as Seve Ballesteros, Colin Montgomerie, Bernhard Langer, Sir Nick Faldo, José María Olazábal, Byron Nelson and Walter Hagen.
The tournament occupies a prime position on the DP World Tour’s ‘Back 9’, which encompasses nine of the Tour’s most historic tournaments and national opens, giving members their final opportunities to secure playing rights for 2025 and also advance to the season ending ‘DP World Tour Play-Offs’.
