The Middle East swing is the first outing of 2011 for many European Tour players and, likewise, amateurs around the world are gearing up for a new golfing year.

A new initiative, ‘Tour Fit for Golf’, has been launched in cooperation with The European Tour Performance Institute to help recreational golfers of all standards, from beginner to scratch and young to veteran, optimise their health and thereby their golf performance. And as a new season unfolds, now is the time to join “Tour Fit for Golf” and get that handicap down.

Working exclusively with The European Tour Performance Institute, Tour Fit for Golf brings never before available access to the advice and expertise enjoyed by the professionals on The European Tour.

Week by week, Tour Fit for Golf will bring golfers of all standards advice and action plans to enable you to optimise your health and fitness, reduce your general health risk and maximize your golfing performance.

Through undertaking a simple, but clinically proven, online health risk assessment (taking under 10 minutes to complete), we can establish what golfers are capable of physically. We can then begin to look at ways to improve your swing within the limitations of your existing physiology.

As a very simple starting point, we can advise on what is best to eat before, during and after a round of golf that will ensure you are as alert and focused on the 18th as you were on the 1st hole! This advice is provided by Nestle Power Bar based on their extensive scientific research into nutrition and performance.

As you continue through the Tour Fit program we can start to look at how to strengthen physical state in relationship to six key areas of performance(KAP). For each KAP there are four videos to help; one showing an example of excellence, another showing how you can test yourself and two exercise drills - tests and exercises that can be done in the comfort of the home, no need for the gym or driving range with these golf specific improvement drills. All videos have been filmed exclusively for Tour Fit for Golf by The European Tour.
