John Daly has confirmed his place in the £2.2 million Barclays Scottish Open which takes place at Loch Lomond Golf Club from 11-14 July. Daly will be joining a cast of stars from The European Tour who have also committed this week, including Michael Campbell, Justin Rose and Adam Scott.
Currently ranked 47th on the Official World Golf Ranking, Daly finished tied third with a 12 under par total of 272 when he made his debut at Loch Lomond last year. He has already enjoyed two fourth place finishes on the US PGA Tour this year and is looking forward to returning to Scotland in July.
With a victory at the dunhill Championship in January and again at the Victor Chandler British Masters earlier this month, Rose has affirmed his position as one of The European Tour’s new leading lights. Currently ranked sixth in the Volvo Order Of Merit, he carded a three under par total of 281 in last year’s Scottish Open to finish tied for 11th place alongside Carl Pettersson, Jeev Milkha Singh and Sven Strüver.
Scott has been a strong performer at Loch Lomond, finishing tied for third place last year alongside Daly, Barry Lane and Paul McGinley with a 12 under par total of 272. The 21 year old Australian, who won the Qatar Masters earlier this year, is currently ranked eighth in the Volvo Order of Merit.
Ranked Number 22 in the Official World Ranking, Campbell will be hoping to at least match the top ten finishes he enjoyed at Loch Lomond in 1999 and 2000. The New Zealander is currently ranked 15th in the Volvo Order of Merit.
Confirmation from Campbell, Daly, Rose and Scott adds to an already impressive field, which includes Europe’s top four Retief Goosen, Colin Montgomerie, Ernie Els and José Maria Olazábal.
