Eirik Tage Johansen hit the front early on day two at the Bad Griesbach Challenge Tour by Hartl Resort after a scintillating seven birdies in his first 12 holes saw him lead at 10 under par.
The Norwegian started the day at four under par and in a tie for 18th, but a trio of red figures from the tenth to start his round got him off to the ideal start, before he picked up another shot at the par four 16th hole.
Johansen then reeled of another three birdies in a row as he made the turn, which saw him extend a two shot advantage over first round lead Victor Riu, who is yet to start, before a bogey at the fourth saw the Norwegian drop back to only one clear of the Frenchman.
Switzerland’s Martin Rominger is also going well on the Beckenbauer Course in the early stages of round two, he’s five under so far today through 15 holes, and in a tie for third at eight under par.
Terry Pilkadaris is alongside Rominger three shots back from the lead, having bounced back from an early bogey with five birdies of his own through two thirds of his second round.
Also on eight under par is Belgium’s Pierre Relecom, who has followed his opening round of 65 with more solid play out there to be one under for the day through nine holes, while Chris Hanson, who started the day alongside Relecom in a tied for second, is one over for the day and back in a tie for tenth at six under par.
Francis McGuirk and Adrian Otaegui got off to slow starts yesterday with four over par rounds of 75, but both are making a strong run at making the cut at four under for their rounds, and currently one shot adrift of the current cut mark at two under par.
