Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez takes a massive five-shot lead into the final round of the Turespana Masters - Open Andalucia after shooting a course record 62 at Parador Malaga del Golf.
The defending champion celebrated a late invitation to the Masters with the lowest round on the European Tour this season. He started his round with an eagle and two birdies before adding another two birdies to his card to reach the turn in 29. Two more birdies and an eagle on the homeward stretch took him to 19 under par.
It was the perfect way to bask in his second Masters appearance after learning of his Augusta National invitation on Friday evening.
Five shots adrift lie fellow Spaniard Ignacio Garrido, who set the previous course record of 63 on Friday, England’s Steve Webster, Frenchman Marc Farry and Swede Per-Ulrik Johansson.
