Jamieson targets early birdies

Scott Jamieson is hoping to benefit from further fast starts this weekend after surging into contention at the KLM Open.

The 28 year old Scot was four under through four this afternoon and picked up a further three shots to move to nine under.

A bogey at the sixth ensured he reached the halfway stage in a tie for second, three behind the faultless Graeme Storm.

“I got off to a great start with two birdies out of the gate and I played some good golf,” Jamieson explained.

“Being four under after four holes was a very hot start and a couple more of them would be great.”

Jamieson currently lies 78th on The Race to Dubai, with around a quarter of his season earnings having been garnered from a fifth place finish in February’s Omega Dubai Desert Classic.

Although seemingly assured of his European Tour card for 2013, he is determined not to let his season peter out.

“It was a good start to the year then I had a lull,” he added.

“I would say after France (the Alstom Open de France) I knew I was definitely safe for next year.

“But we are out here to win tournaments and get to Dubai at the end of the year, not just keep our cards.”
