Fredrik Jacobson stretched his advantage to three shots with a stunning start to his third round at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions.
The 37 year old from Sweden led by one at the halfway stage after a second round 66 at Sheshan International, but that lead had been trebled after just four holes.
A run of three consecutive birdies from the second took Jacobson – a three-time European Tour winner back in 2003 – to 14 under par.
Last year’s Open Championship winner Louis Oosthuizen birdied the fifth to move into second on 11 under following the South African’s stunning second round 63.
Australian Adam Scott and 2010 US Open Champion Graeme McDowell were tied for third a shot further back, with last year’s runner-up Lee Westwood and his compatriots Robert Rock and Paul Casey in the group on nine under.
