Fredrik Jacobson continued his excellent form by moving into a share of second place after the first round of the Travelers Championship.
The Swede, 15th at last week’s US Open Championship, carded a five under par 65 in Connecticut to sit one behind American David Mathis.
Jacobson would have held the outright lead but for a late double bogey at the short 16th.
He had reached seven under after birdies at the third, fourth, eighth, ninth, tenth, 12th and 14th.
Will Claxton and Nathan Green are level with Jacobson, while England’s Gary Christian is amongst those on four under.
Ian Poulter, Noh Seung-yul and Robert Karlsson all made good starts to reach two under par, with former Open Champions Louis Oosthuizen and Padraig Harrington one under.
