The ISPS Handa World Super 6 Perth never fails to produce drama and unlike many other events, a lot of that drama comes on a Saturday.
The top 65 and ties make it through to round three but the field then needs to be whittled down further to 24 players for the six hole match play knockout stage on Sunday.
Last season's winner Kiradech Aphibarbrat had to come through a play-off to get into the top 24, as did 2017 finallist Phachara Khongwatmai, and here is how it works.
Top 24 play-off
If we have more than 24 players due to advance, the players in a tie 24th play off up the 18th as many times as necessary until we have the number of players required. Those that move through will then go into a random draw to face other players who finished from ninth to 24th in the first round of the knockout.
Top eight play-off
The players who finish in the top eight get a bye into the last 16 and if a play-off is required to split those in a tie for eighth, they play off up the 12th as many times as necessary. If players in the top eight finish on the same score, the positions for seeding will then be decided on a countback of:
- Best third round score
- Best scores on the last nine, six, three, one holes of the course in round three
- Card match play starting at the first hole of the course based on round three scores
