Host Donald excited to return to action after short break

Luke Donald is looking forward to returning to action at the British Masters supported by Sky Sports after a four-week break.

The former World Number One, who is hosting this week's event at The Grove, last played at the BMW Championship on the PGA Tour in September and feels refreshed ahead of Thursday's first round.

Donald said: "I have had four weeks off since the BMW Championship in the FedExCup over there in the US. I put my clubs away for a couple of weeks.

"I felt like I played a lot leading up to that and I needed a break. I've worked on my game for a couple of weeks now getting ready for this week, but I feel pretty refreshed and excited to get back to competition after a little break.

"I feel like during the FedEx Play-offs, I really saw some positive signs and I felt like there was a lot more consistency in my game. I didn't quite take off and have great performances.

"I had a runner-up finish in Greensboro, which was good. But although my results were steady and a lot more consistent, they weren't quite as good as I'd like.

"But I feel like I'm certainly trending in the right direction."

Donald, 38, does not feel the extra duties he has this week will have a negative impact on his performance.

He added: "Obviously I have more responsibility this week than I would have in a usual event, but it's a very manageable amount, so I can concentrate on my game.

"There's a little bit more time that they need from me this week, but it's not going to impinge on my performance."

Donald will get his opening round under way at 12.25 on Thursday, alongside fellow Englishmen Andy Sullivan and Chris Wood.
