Horsey off to quick start

David Horsey birdied the first hole for the second day in a row as he got his third round off to a flying start at the Made in Denmark.

Horsey came into day three at Himmerland Golf & Spa resort with a three shot lead over Richard Green and John Parry and quickly moved to 13 under with his gain on the first.

But Green, who has only dropped two shots so far this week, also picked up a shot to get to double figures while Parry made par.

Parry then bogeyed the second as his playing partners made par and was leapfrogged by Terry Pilkadaris, who moved to nine under with a birdie on the second.

The chasing pack did not appear to be of any concern to Horsey, though, who claimed another birdie on the third and opened up a four shot lead over Green.

A pair of Danes were delighting the local crowd, Martin Ovesen and Morten Ørum Madsen both reaching four under for the day to make a move up the leaderboard.

Ovesen birdied his first three holes and then picked up another on the sixth to sit eight under for the tournament, while Madsen was a further shot back after six holes following birdies on the first, second, fourth and sixth.

Peter Lawrie was alongside Parry and Ovesen on eight under thanks to a birdie on the third, while American Paul Peterson claimed a hat-trick of gains from the third to move into the group on seven under.

The low round of the day so far belonged to Merrick Bremner who was out in the second group and registered a 66 before the leaders were on the tee.

The South African, who finished in a tie for eighth at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May, made a flying start with birdies on the first and third before an eagle on the fourth.

Another birdie on the sixth helped him turn in 31 but he could not maintain the pace on the back nine and two birdies and two bogeys took him to a tie for 18th.
