The home heroes sent the crowd wild, while Jorge took the lead on day two of the 2022 Horizon Irish Open.

Here is everything you need to know from day two at Mount Juliet Estate.

Seamus puts on a show for home crowd

Despite having to endure very wet weather at times on Friday afternoon, the Irish fans were out in huge numbers once again. And those following World Number 36 Seamus Power were rewarded for their exceptional support as he fired four birdies in five holes around the turn to move into contention. He is just three back heading into the weekend. When asked what a win here would mean to him, he said: "It would be huge, one of the things you grow up dreaming about in golf. Obviously I need another good one tomorrow to give myself a chance on Sunday. Seems I'm in a good spot only three back but it's going to be more of the same for me and maybe just cut out a couple of the mistakes and I should have a chance."

Shane's big finish

Power's playing partner Shane Lowry knew he needed to produce something special if he was going to make the cut after carding four bogeys and two birdies in his first 13 holes. And with his home crowd willing every single one of his putts to drop, he kept them well and truly entertained to the very end, reeling off four closing birdies to get to three under par and make it through to the weekend. The delighted Irish fans showed their love for the Major Champion as they roared in his lengthy birdie putt at the 18th...

Afterwards Lowry said: "It was pretty cool. To be honest, I had kind of resigned myself to the fact I was going home, packing my bags. Don't know if I've ever birdied the last four to make a cut so that's a first. I'm just happy to be in the weekend. Everybody knows how much this tournament means to me and how much I want to be here. Quite a few people come to see me play and nice to have them here now and I'm looking forward to the weekend."

Lucas feels like 'adopted Irishman'

Defending champion Lucas Herbert also enjoyed plenty of support at Mount Juliet Estate, despite not being Irish. He was, however, playing alongside home hero Pádraig Harrington on days one and two and relished having a big gallery cheering his group on. He said: "There's so much support here. I almost feel like an adopted Irishman this week."

Jorge rises to the summit

Jorge Campillo climbed to the top of the leaderboard after posting a second-round 68 on Friday morning before the worst of the weather arrived in the afternoon. The Spaniard did have to withstand heavy rain towards the end of his round but he was soon in the clubhouse, and at 11 under, none of the later starters could catch him.

More money raised at the 18th

With Make-A-Wish Ireland receiving €500 for every birdie at the 18th hole this week through the Birdies for Wishes initiative, a huge €8,500 was added to the €6,000 raised on Thursday.
