Less than a month after Angel Hidalgo held off countryman Jon Rahm in a play-off to win the 2024 acciona Open de España presented by Madrid, the duo were entertaining their home crowds again at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande.
Playing together over the first two days of the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters, the Spanish pair - along with playing partner Rasmus Højgaard - appeared to be holding their own shot-of-the-week competition on Friday.
Hidalgo set the tone at the second hole, with the 26-year-old sending his stunning approach at the par five to seven feet to set up an eagle.
And his next approach was arguably even better, as he made his tricky shot from a fairway bunker on the third look easy. He knocked it to four feet before rolling in the birdie putt to really get the crowd going.
Rahm birdied the same two holes before almost spinning his approach at the fifth into the cup.
The Ryder Cup star instead had to settle for a birdie there before making two more at the sixth and seventh for a hat-trick.
In fact, all three members of Group 26 birdied the seventh from long range, with the volume definitely increasing at that hole.
Rahm made further birdies at the tenth, 14th and 15th, while Hidalgo birdied the tenth, 14th and 16th before bouncing back from a bogey on the 17th with a closing birdie.
After finishing with a 17-foot birdie putt and a fist pump, Hidalgo high-fived his way to the recorder's hut amid huge roars from the home fans.
The Spanish pair head into the weekend on eight under par after both signing for second-round 66s.
