Royal Liverpool member Matthew Jordan described firing a closing birdie in front of his home crowd as the "perfect finish to what has been the most unbelievable week" after finishing in a tie for tenth at The 151st Open Championship.
The local lad has been one of the standout stories of the week, having come through qualifying to play in a Major Championship on his local links.
The 27-year-old hit the tournament’s first tee-shot on Thursday and went on to post rounds of 69, 72, 69 and 70 to finish on four under par alongside fellow home favourite Tommy Fleetwood.
And he saved his best until last, draining a seven-foot birdie effort on the 18th to reward the large crowds that have followed him throughout the week, sparking a huge roar.
"It was just the perfect finish to what has been the most unbelievable week," said Jordan.

"Rolling that in, I just so wanted to knock it in for everyone who's supported me, just to go crazy one last time. They stuck with me even in the rain like this.
"Just to be able to do it for them and have that kind of ultimate feeling, as it were, to birdie the last at my home course at The Open is just brilliant.
"I tend to find that when there is a bit of pressure involved in the best events that I do tend to do quite well.
"So I know I can, but obviously this was a completely new experience really in terms of the pressure from the support and the course and everything like that.
"I think that's probably the most proud I've been about myself, the way I've performed under all that."
