Following on from Rory McIlroy's win in Scotland last week, there's more success from the stars of Holywood.
In just 26 starts on the DP World Tour, Tom McKibbin claimed his first ever victory at the Porsche European Open. The 7455-yard par 73 proved extremely difficult in blustery conditions. McKibbin appeared unphased and was only player in the field to shoot four rounds in the sixties.
The 20-year-old hit an unbelievable five iron draw around a tree on the 18th hole in the final round which subsequently led to a birdie to secure a two-shot victory, finishing at nine under-par.
Following his win, McKibbin jumped from 92nd to 23rd in the Race to Dubai rankings.
In second place with 25.6% of the votes is New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier. The Kiwi earned his maiden victory at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo. A remarkable eagle-birdie-eagle finish on the back nine of his final round clinched a two-shot victory.
Thriston Lawrence took third place with 13.5% of the votes as the South African claimed his fourth DP World Tour win in just 19 months at the BMW International Open.
After years in and out of qualifying school, Dale Whitnell finally picked up his first DP World Tour victory at the Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed. The Englishman received the remainder of the votes.
