Hero Indian Open - Day three digest

Everything you need to know from Moving Day at DLF Golf and Country Club.

The German flag was flying high at the top of the leaderboard after Siem closed in on Paul on day three of the 2023 Hero Indian Open.

Here is everything you need to know from Moving Day at DLF Golf and Country Club.

Spot the difference

There are certain similarities between Gudmundur Kristjansson and Marcel Siem, including their brilliance around the greens...

Paul fights back

Halfway leader Yannik Paul began the day five shots clear of the chasing pack but made back-to-back bogeys at the second and third to give hope to those looking to catch him. He bounced back brilliantly, though, firing a hat-trick of birdies at the sixth, seventh and eighth to head into the turn with a three-shot lead. And although Siem was able to close the gap to one courtesy of a big finish, Paul is still the man to catch thanks to his third-round 71.

Olesen makes big move

Last week's winner Thorbjørn Olesen achieved a rare feat at DLF on Saturday, carding a bogey-free 66 which contained six birdies to climb to five under par. He is tied for fourth, six shots off the lead going into the final round, but there is still plenty of golf to be played.

Fist pump for a bogey

If there's such a thing as a good bogey, Siem made one on the 14th. After missing the green at the extremely tricky par four, he cleared the putting surface with his third shot before chipping to 12 feet with his fourth. The German managed to limit the damage to one dropped shot with a clutch putt, and you could see what it meant to him.

He recovered with birdies at the 17th and 18th to get within one of Paul.

Bunker brilliance

Home hope Angad Cheema had a huge bunker lip in front of him but that didn't stop him from sending this shot from the sand straight at the flag. So close to a bonus par.
