Scott Henry was on course to claim a career-changing victory after the Scotsman took a three shot lead onto the 11th tee on the final day of the Kazakhstan Open, as five birdies and a bogey moved him to 20 under par.
Henry rallied early on as his challengers struggled, with birdies at the second and third holes before another pair of consecutive birdies at the sixth and seventh, having bogeyed the fifth.
A birdie at the ninth took him two shots clear of Alexander Levy, who suffered a bad spell midway through his front nine after taking two shots to chip out of heavy grass at the par three fourth hole to finish with a double bogey, which was followed by a bogey.
He recovered briefly thanks to birdies at the sixth and eighth holes but a bogey at the tenth left him three shots off the pace.
Peter Uihlein was also undone by the fourth hole after he also flew the green and was forced to take a drop shot for an unplayable lie before two-putting for a double-bogey, and the American was four shots off the lead set by Henry.
Andrew McArthur, meanwhile, moved into contention just three shots behind his compatriot Henry thanks to four birdies and an eagle, which helped him reach the 13th tee in six under par.
