Tyrrell Hatton continued his fine record at Chapultepec Golf Club as he fired an opening 67 on day one of the WGC-Mexico Championship.
The Englishman finished tenth on his debut at this event in 2017 and fared even better 12 months ago, finishing just one shot out of a play-off in Mexico City.
He had a putt for par on the last to sit alongside Phil Mickelson and Justin Thomas at 16 under but his ball hit a spike mark and ended up just short as he recorded a closing bogey.
The 27-year-old has chosen to harness the good experiences over the layout rather than the bad, however, and was four shots off the lead after round one.
"I'm pretty happy with the score," he said. "I have good and bad memories from last year so looking to have a good start and obviously four under's a nice way to start the tournament. Hopefully I can continue that way.
"I feel comfortable here. I like how the course kind of suits my eye. If I can hole some putts, I should have a good week."
The high altitude has been known to catch some players out at Chapultepec but Hatton has never had such problems, despite admitting the swirling wind was a test.
"I feel like we struggled a little bit at times, which is easy because the wind's kind of swirling around," he said. "It's very easily a half club. We had that a few times on the front nine, it was a little bit better on the back nine.
"We've got a metres book this week and we're taking five per cent off that and playing that number."
