Tyrrell Hatton is hoping to master the conditions once again as he defends a European Tour title for the first time at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
The Englishman equalled the course record on the Old Course at St Andrews en route to a four-shot win at the event which also involves playing Carnoustie and Kingsbarns.
That victory was part of an excellent run of form either side of Christmas that saw him get as high as 14th in the Official World Golf Ranking.
After a barren run in the summer, Hatton has two consecutive top tens as he arrives in Scotland and he once again teams up with Northern Irish actor Jamie Dornan for the annual star-studded celebration of links golf.
"We had good fun last year," he said. "You know, having a bit of chemistry, if you like, is what this event is about and try and have a bit of a laugh. I feel obviously that helped me the four days last year and looking forward to doing that again this year.
"Played 18 today with four layers and a hat and I remember last year I was gentleman jumper and polo and a lot less wind. So hopefully the conditions ease up a bit.
"Playing three courses, a huge part of that depends on what kind of draw you get. You can play Kingsbarns or St Andrews on a really calm day and shoot decent scores and if you get Carnoustie, or to be honest any of the other courses, on a really tough day, then you're going to struggle.
"That's what links golf is about. Hopefully whatever sort of conditions there are, I can manage them well."
Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex leader Tommy Fleetwood arrives in Scotland this week having withdrawn from last week's British Masters supported by Sky Sports in preparation for the birth of his child.
Franklin Fleetwood arrived at 12.33pm on Thursday weighing seven pounds, six ounces and just seven days later, dad is back in action.
"I could talk about it for a year, I think, if you really wanted me to," he said.
"Anybody that has been through it will tell you it's surreal and it's amazing. It shouldn't be beautiful but it's the most beautiful thing you've ever seen in your life.
"I think Clare was amazing and, you know, to have them both healthy, it's kind of a little wake-up, everything has gone all right but I've loved it, I really have."
Fleetwood has three top fives in six appearances at this event and is eager to do well again with the prize of being Europe's number one very much on his mind.
"It's a massively important time to play well if you can, massive events," he said. "We all kind of know what's on the line, sort of thing.
"I would love to win the Race to Dubai, absolutely love it. I can't get away from it. I can't say, 'I won't think about it and I'll try and just go through my processes', because that's the goal now."
