Peter Hanson’s victory at last week’s Czech Open was significant not just in terms of The Ryder Cup but also The Race to Dubai, as the Swede moved inside the all-important top 15 for the first time this year.

Should he hold his position – or improve on it - during the remainder of the season, Hanson would be in line to claim a share of the US$7.5million Race to Dubai Bonus Pool, which is distributed amongst the top 15 players on conclusion of the 2010 Dubai World Championship.

Hanson’s cheque for €333,330 moved the four-time European Tour champion up ten places to 15th in The Race to Dubai at the expense of England’s Ross Fisher, who dropped down one place to 16th.

Peter Lawrie’s consolation at losing out in the play-off to Hanson was to move from 75th to 42nd in The Race to Dubai, which would secure the Irishman a place in the 60-man field for the second edition of the Dubai World Championship, held at at Jumeirah Golf Estates from November 25-28.

Welshman Bradley Dredge also climbed five places from 62nd to 57th on the back of his tied 16th finish, with Dutchman Joost Luiten dropping out as a result.

The man looking nervously over his shoulder is Luiten’s compatriot Robert-Jan Derksen, who is currently in 60th place, just €2,081 ahead of South African Thomas Aiken.
