Hanson edges towards glory at SAS Masters

Peter Hanson is just nine holes away from his first title in three years after making an eventful start to his final round at the SAS Masters.

Scandinavian Masters - Round Two

The Swede, whose only win in 174 starts on The European Tour came at the Jazztel Open de España en Andalucía in 2005, came into the fourth round on ten under par, but has since improved to 11 under, two clear of Soren Kjeldsen.

In wet and windy conditions, Hanson was two inches from an ace on the 191 yard second, but bogeyed the short fourth after going into the lake, as did playing partner Pelle Edberg.

Kjeldsen opened with two birdie putts from 15 feet to catch the Swede, bogeyed the next, but then was back on level terms on ten under par after another birdie at the fifth.

A second bogey came at the seventh before a run of two pars took Kjeldsen to the turn in 33, nine under overall, but Hanson pulled clear by collecting a stroke with a putt from 20 feet at the eighth.

Gary Orr bogeyed his first two holes, but picked up birdies at the eighth and tenth to go level par for the round through ten, eight under overall, while Edberg is a shot further back.

Nick Dougherty is two over for the day, six under overall, while Jarmo Sandelin has set the clubhouse target at four under after shooting 68.
