Hansen makes his move

Anders Hansen birdied four consecutive holes before the turn to storm into the lead at the Joburg Open.

Joburg Open 2009 - Round One

The Dane was a shot behind the leading trio overnight but after picking up a shot at the third he carded four more birdies from the sixth to reach 15 under par at the turn at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club.

That was enough to put him two shots clear of Charl Schwartzel - who jointly led with David Drysdale and Andrew McLardy overnight.

The South African - whose brilliant 63 in the third round had sent him rocketing up the leaderboard - posted four birdies and two bogeys before the turn to sit 13 under.

Scotland’s Drysdale was still well in contention at 12 under, picking up one shot through the first nine holes.

Another South African, Tyrone van Aswegen, was three under for the round to draw level with Drysdale, although with only six holes remaining in his round it was going to take something special for him to claim the €174,350 first prize.
