Joachim B Hansen was feeling the heat at the King’s Cup presented by PTT Group on Friday but sits just one shot off the lead at the halfway stage after producing a three under par 67.
The Challenge Tour graduate heads into the weekend on six under par after notching six birdies - including three on the spin at the start of his round - and three bogeys in his second round.
He is in third place behind co-leaders Sattaya Supupramai and Terry Pilkadaris but could have joined them at the top of the leaderboard had he not dropped a shot at the tricky ninth - his last hole of the day.
After his round, Hansen said: "I hit several solid shots and hit it very close to the pins today. I was very hot with my putter too.
"I’m a little disappointed as my game was very solid at the start but after about seven holes, I started hitting several bad iron shots.
"I wasn’t sure what was going on then too.
"The weather’s nice but it's a bit too hot when the sun’s up and it’s pretty humid too - Joachim B Hansen
"I've just got to keep putting well and strike the ball a bit better, then I would be okay.
"It would be nice to keep my European Tour card again this year and I’m really looking forward to playing this weekend."
