Søren Hansen extended his lead to three shots during the second round of the Mercedes-Benz Championship.

Johnnie Walker Championship - Round Three

The Danish Ryder Cup star, winner here at Golf Club Gut Lärchenhof in 2007, had opened with a seven under 65 as he did two years ago.

And Hansen picked up four more shots before the turn of his second round to go 11 under for the week, three better than England’s Ross Fisher, Australian Scott Strange and South African James Kingston.

Another Dane, Anders Hansen, and England’s Chris Wood – second overnight – were a shot further back on seven under in the 78-man elite field.

Leader Hansen birdied his opening hole and then picked up another stroke on the par five third for the second day running.

Further birdies at the fifth and eighth helped ensure a substantial lead and through 27 holes Hansen was yet to drop a shot.

World Number Six Henrik Stenson had climbed 20 places with a hole to play, six birdies and two bogeys lifting the Swede into a share of seventh on six under.
