The Hangzhou Open makes its debut on the Challenge Tour this week as one of the elevated events offering additional Ranking points of 2,750 and prize money of US$500,000. As the 2024 season draws to a close, here’s what you need to know about this week’s Hangzhou Open.

The Hangzhou Open represents the last chance for players to break into the top 45 on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and book their tickets to the Rolex Challenge Tour Grand Final supported by the R&A. A top 20 finish inside the rankings after the Rolex Grand Final will secure their playing status on the DP World Tour for 2025.

West Lake International Golf and Country Club was the host venue for the golf competition at the Asian Games last year. It continues to welcome an international field of elite golfers with the staging of the Hangzhou Open this week. Designed by golfing great Jack Nicklaus, the 7,252 par-71 course is expected to give all golfers a stern test as the galleries watch the drama unfold.

Event History

After playing in China for more than a decade, the Challenge Tour finally comes to Hangzhou – dubbed the ‘City of Competition and Events’. As the penultimate event of the 2024 Challenge Tour season, the inaugural Hangzhou Open promises to play a pivotal role in shaping the Road to Mallorca Rankings with additional Ranking points and prize money on offer.
