Hands up who wants to volunteer for the Scottish Open?

Opportunities to get ‘up close and personal’ with sporting superstars are few and far between. However, by volunteering to assist at the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open during the week commencing July 8 you can enjoy that incredible experience.

The European Tour, promoters of the event at Castle Stuart Golf Links near Inverness, are seeking volunteer stewards to work at the prestigious tournament – and part of the myriad responsibilities can include the highly sought after ‘inside the ropes’ access.

Duties include marshalling the crowds, keeping the scoreboards up to date and other task associated with ensuring the smooth running of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, which has attracted world stars of the calibre of Phil Mickelson, Padraig Harrington and Scotland’s Paul Lawrie.

Volunteers will receive items of tournament branded clothing and catering vouchers to help create an enjoyable experience for those lucky participants.

Championship Director, Peter Adams, said: “After the great success of the Olympic Games last year, volunteering to help out at major sporting events has become very popular. We are keen that everyone in the Inverness and Moray area knows there is a wonderful opportunity to be involved, to work closely with a great bunch of people and to get close to the action.”
