Guido Migliozzi mastered the windy conditions in Amsterdam to card the lowest round of the day and move right into contention heading into the final round of the KLM Open.
The Italian is noted for his low ball flight and he used it brilliantly at The International to card a 66 and move to ten under in the toughest conditions of the week so far.
The increased wind meant that Migliozzi felt the field were effectively "playing a different course" and he was pleased to get himself in the hunt for a fourth DP World Tour title, sitting just one shot behind 54-hole leader Mikko Korhonen.
"It was a very good round," he said. "It’s tough today, the wind got up and in a different way as well, so we were playing a different course and I managed my game very well.
"I enjoyed playing today on the course, it has been a solid day of golf.
"It was tricky. It was kind of a brand new golf course for all of us but we knew that it could happen and, you know, I tried my best to keep the ball very low as well.
"I like to hit the ball low and I am comfortable doing that, so maybe days like this can happen and I try to take advantage of it, but I played great."
Long putts on the fourth and fifth brought birdies for Migliozzi but he dropped a shot at the ninth after a ragged drive.
An approach to seven feet at the tenth and a beautiful tee-shot at the par-three 11th then handed him a birdie-birdie start to the front nine and he hit another smart approach into the 14th before making a two-putt gain on the par-five last.
"Even on the greens, I holed great putts and it is about shot by shot," he said.
"It is a bit as usual that everyone says that but it is how it is."
