The DP World Tour winner, from nearby North Berwick, will assist TRCCF in sharing the story of its charitable giving, and the organisations that benefit. The 30 year old saw how the charitable funds raised by TRCCF via the Genesis Scottish Open benefit local communities when he visited the East Lothian Foodbank to find out more about its valuable works ahead of last year’s tournament.

TRCCF was set up by the owners of Genesis Scottish Open host venue the Renaissance Club to assist local organisations - primarily in the East Lothian area – and has been the charity partner of the tournament since 2022.

Each year TRCCF selects a range of organisations, which benefit different areas of the community, to receive funds raised around the Genesis Scottish Open.

In the past two years £343,000 has been raised and distributed to organisations including the East Lothian Foodbank, Gullane Village Association, Leuchie House, Muirfield Riding Therapy, the Pennypit Trust, and the Stephen Gallacher Foundation.

Forrest, who is set to tee it up amongst a world-class field including defending champion Rory McIlroy, at the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open, said: “I’m very proud to be an ambassador for The Renaissance Club Charitable Foundation, and to assist in any way I can to help raise the profile of both TRCCF and the organisations that benefit from its fundraising.

“I have seen for myself just how important the fundraising efforts are and I look forward to meeting more of the organisations that are benefitting from the funds and making a difference to the lives of people across East Lothian and beyond.”

The objective of TRCCF is to raise money to support charitable groups and organisations in East Lothian and elsewhere in Scotland for a variety of charitable purposes, as directed by trustees David Sarvadi (Chair), Jerry Sarvadi, Catriona Matthew OBE, Keith Oliver OBE, Richard Loudon, Forbes Connor, Anthony Hugget and Mark White.

Jerry Sarvadi, Treasurer of TRCCF, added: "We are thrilled to announce that Grant Forrest will be joining us as an ambassador for The Renaissance Club Charitable Foundation. Grant's involvement is especially meaningful given the substantial support we've been able to provide to local charities.

“Having someone as celebrated in the community as Grant on board will further enhance our efforts to make a positive impact and support those in need. We look forward to working together to continue our mission of giving back and strengthening our community."

Rory Colville, DP World Tour Championship Director for the Genesis Scottish Open, said: “It’s wonderful to have a local star like Grant commit to assist TRCCF in this way, and I’m sure his help will go a long way to raising the profile of its work.

“Scotland’s national open has a long history of charitable giving, and at the Tour we are committed to leaving a positive legacy on the communities we visit under our Golf for Good principles. I look forward to seeing how the funds raised via the 2024 Genesis Scottish Open make a difference.”

The 2024 Genesis Scottish Open takes place from July 11-14 and is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and PGA TOUR. Counting on both the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex and the FedExCup, the tournament boasts Genesis, the luxury automotive brand from South Korea, as title sponsor. Genesis title-sponsor two tournaments on the PGA TOUR’s 2024 schedule, with the Genesis Scottish Open following February’s Genesis Invitational at The Riviera Country Club.

The tournament benefits from the continued commitment of the Scottish Government, managed by VisitScotland, and retains its place in golf’s global calendar the week ahead of The Open as part of these agreements through to 2025.
