Goya moves into contention

Argentina’s Tano Goya leapt up the leaderboard as the second round of the Portugal Masters got under way.

Moravia Silesia Open Golf - Round One

The 21 year old starlet birdied four holes in a row from the 15th to reach six under for his round through 11 holes, eight under for the tournament.

That was still four shots behind leader Francesco Molinari, who wasted no time extending his overnight advantage.

The Italian birdied three of his first six holes to reach 12 under, continuing the dazzling form that brought him an opening nine under 63.

Spain’s Pablo Martin and England’s Simon Khan, who could both use a good performance to bolster their hopes of finishing within the top 115 on The Race to Dubai who automatically retain their playing privileges, were Molinari’s nearest challengers on nine under - both three under on the day.

Goya was joined on eight under by defending champion Alvaro Quiros, who played the back nine in a four under 32.
