In the first of a new Challenge Tour series, we find out a bit more about one of the leading lights of the 2016 season, Road to Oman Rankings Number Three, Matthieu Pavon:
Best round of golf you’ve ever played?
That’s tough! It was a matchplay game when I was playing for my home club, and I made nine birdies in a row, so that would be the best round I’ve ever had.
Dream fourball (yourself plus three)?
I just would like to play with Tiger Woods! Also Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Jason Day, I love all those guys too. So me, Tiger, and two of them.
Favourite golf course you’ve played?
I don’t know if I have a particular favourite, but one I really love, because it’s really tough, is Le Golf National for the Open de France – it’s so nice, the shape is just perfect.
Dream golf course to play?
Augusta. Always.
Which Major Championship would you most like to win?
The Masters, of course.
Which shot from your career would you like a mulligan on?
Maybe a shot from one of those tournaments I lost by one shot at the start of the year! I don’t have a precise shot, but I would like to do one shot better in either Turkey or Italy.
Favourite film?
I don’t really have a favourite film but I really like sports films.
If you could travel in time, where and when would you go to?
I’m pretty curious so I would like to be in the future.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be?
Tiger Woods – I’ve always wanted to be him.
Favourite city?
Bordeaux, where I live.
Favourite holiday destination?
Somewhere warm, so maybe Hawaii or the Maldives, with boats and everything.
Sporting hero?
My dad. He was a football player and coach and I really love what he has done with his career.
You have just won the lottery. What is the first thing you buy?
A flight to somewhere to have a big holiday with all my family and friends.

What is in your golf bag?
I use Ping clubs, for four or five years. S55 irons, G driver and 3 wood, and a new crossover as a hybrid. 3 iron to wedge and 2 sandwedges, 52 degree and 58 degree. Maybe a few bananas as well.
