Passengers will be able to travel in comfort from Parkdean Holiday Park, via the town Promenade and onwards to Royal Porthcawl from 10.30am each day with the last bus leaving Royal Porthcawl GC at 4pm. The volunteers will provide the public with information and daily draw sheets detailing the tee times for the Championship.

Andy Stubbs, on behalf of the Senior Open Championship, commented: “We are delighted to announce this initiative by Bridgend County Borough Council, which will link the town of Porthcawl with the Championship just a few miles along the coast.

“Spectators can now enjoy the facilities in the town centre and also admire the skills of many of the legends of the game up close and personal on one of the world’s great golf courses. On behalf of the Championship, we would like to thank BCBC and Porthcawl Town Council for their generosity and assistance in providing a valuable public service during the four days of the event.”

Cllr Sean Aspey, Mayor of Porthcawl, welcomed the initiative, saying: “It is befitting Royal Porthcawl’s status that so many golfing greats will venture here to play in such a prestigious event on one of the finest links courses in the UK.

“We are delighted to assist in a small way in bringing the town closer to the Golf Club through this special bus service on all four days of the Senior Open Championship. The bus service to and from the Championship will enhance the visitor experience for those attending the golf and the town centre amenities. I'm sure that it will prove to be a spectacular success."
