Scotland’s Young posted a six under par round of 66 to set the target at 13 under par, before South African Germishuys and Frenchman Guillamoundeguy carded three under 69’s to join him at the top of the leaderboard at Wittelsbacher Golfclub.

Germishuys lost his DP World Tour card after finishing 125th on the Race to Dubai Rankings in Partnership with Rolex last season, however he is currently placed 14th on the Road to Mallorca Rankings and poised to make a swift return to golf’s Global Tour.

“I’m really happy today,” he said. “I made some crucial par putts on the front nine and then managed to get into a rhythm on the back nine which was important.

“If you are hitting fairways out here and dialled in with your irons you can definitely make some birdies on this course. The greens are rolling nicely and it’s about handling the pressure of being at the top of the leaderboard.

“It would be amazing to get my DP World Tour card back this year,” he said. “I miss playing on that level and my goal at the start of the season was to finish in that top 20 to regain my status.”

Guillamoundeguy made four birdies in his final five holes to climb the leaderboard, and the 19-year-old has now set his sights on a maiden Challenge Tour victory tomorrow.

“I’m pretty happy with my game today,” he said. “I remained patient throughout my round and then managed to finish with four birdies towards the end.

“I know that I can make a lot of birdies so for me it is about keeping the big numbers of the scorecard. If you want to win you need to hole a lot of putts and your green reading has to be spot on.

“I’m in a great position heading into the final round. I will give everything that I have got and try to do my best to win the tournament tomorrow.”

Italian Gregorio De Leo sits in fourth place on ten under par, while countryman Pietro Bovari, South African Robin Williams, Frenchman Pierre Pineau and Denmark’s John Axelsen are a shot further back in fifth.

The final round will get under way at 8:25am local time, with the leading trio teeing it up in the final group at 10:09am.
