Genworth Stats Pack - Volvo Golf Champions Summary

Our Volvo Golf Champions Summary Report analyses the performance of winner Louis Oosthuizen, plus tournament contenders Scott Jamieson, Thongchai Jaidee, Padraig Harrington, Danny Willett and Julien Quesne.

Louis OOSTHUIZEN -16

Louis Oosthuizen continued the dominance of the South Africans around Durban Country Club with his win at the Volvo Golf Champions. His final round 66 was made up of 11/14 fairways in regulation, 16/18 greens in regulation (plus 2 sub-regulation hits) and 30 putts. Looking at his Genworth Tournament Statistics, Louis topped the Stroke Average, Driving Distance, Putts per GIR and Par 4 Scoring for the week. He did not make any eagles but converted more birdies than any other player (26 in total). And he was one of 7 players to keep a double bogey off their card. With this win he climbs to number 4 in the World Golf Ranking.

Scott JAMIESON -15

The ultra-critical may say that Scott Jamieson let this one slip away, but we disagree. In his final round of 72 he gave himself plenty of chances, hitting a very respectable 14/18 greens in regulation (plus one sub-regulation hit). Scott’s Genworth Tournament Statistics highlight some aggressive but accurate golf. He ranked 4th for Driving Distance and 2nd for Greens in Regulation. He topped the Par 3 Scoring with an amazing 2.63 average and made a greater number of eagles and birdies than most. Overall Scott has achieved a dream start to his 2013 campaign. Can he do it again next week in Abu Dhabi?

Thongchai JAIDEE -14

Thongchai Jaidee plays quite a busy schedule across different tours, included three tournaments in Asia in December. His end of year schedule may have given him an edge coming into the Volvo Golf Champions event. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, his game was steady across the board. Other than the ‘Par 5’s in 2’ statistic (which records the number of Par 5 holes where a player hits the green in 2 shots) Thongchai did not rank worse than 15th in any other category. A true golf professional.

Padraig HARRINGTON -12

Padriag Harrington produced an exciting final 9 holes to finish off the Volvo Golf Champions event in style. His 11 putts over the back 9 confirmed an excellent short game week. Analysing his Genworth Tournament Statistics, Padraig ranked 7th in Scrambles, 5th in Putts per GIR, 2nd in Putts per Round and 2nd in 1 Putts per Round (a hot blade some would say). If he can produce the same short game statistics next week in Abu Dhabi, coupled with a touch more consistency from tee to green, he shouldn’t be far away.

Danny WILLETT -11

Danny Willett produced some very solid long game statistics over the 4 rounds. He was long and accurate off the tee and ranked 3rd for the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic. He also putted quite well and made 23 birdies in total. Perhaps it was the 3 double bogies that stopped a very good week being a great week. He must be looking forward to the upcoming Middle East swing.

Julien QUESNE -11

Julien Quesne produced some great golf this week. He played the Par 3 holes and Par 5 holes very well and ranked 2nd overall for both Driving Accuracy and Putts per GIR. He also made lots of birdies (23 in total). Oddly though, he seemed to struggle a little on the Par 4 holes. Drilling down and analysing his Genworth Statistics for the Par 4’s he hit a good number of the fairways (31/40) but failed to capitalise into the greens (22/40). In total, 11 of his 12 bogies and his only double bogey were made on the Par 4 holes.
