Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Richard Sterne completed a wire to wire victory at the Joburg Open this week, his 6th win to date on the European Tour. We analyse his Genworth tournament statistics in depth, showing how he blew the field away with a record score to Par (-27) and a record victory margin (7 shots) for this event.

TOURNAMENT STATISTICS -27

Richard Sterne drove the ball long and straight, which enabled him to then rank 1st for the Genworth Greens in Regulation statistic with 65/72 greens (90.3%). Players that top the Greens in Regulation statistic at tournaments often win, the best ever example being when Tiger Woods led the Greens in Regulation statistic in all four of his back to back major victories in 2000/2001. Overall Richard racked up one eagle and 26 birdies for the week, but the most astonishing statistic of all was the fact that he dropped just one shot over the 72 holes (a feat last accomplished by Tiger Woods back in 2002).

PAR 3 STATISTICS -3

Richard Sterne ranked 9th for Par 3 Scoring with a 2.81 average (-3 to Par). His strategy seemed to be a little more conservative on these holes compared to the Par 4’s and Par 5’s, whereby he made sure to hit most of the greens (14/16) and take the odd birdie when it came along. Felipe Aguilar, Trevor Fisher Jnr and Garth Mulroy scored the best on the Par 3’s with a 2.63 average (-6 to Par), with Garth Mulroy hitting every one of the 16 Greens in Regulation.
