Genworth Stats Pack - Summary Report

Darren Fichardt converted 1 eagle and 24 birdies on his way to winning for the fourth time on the European Tour (in doing so breaking into the World top 100). Looking at his Genworth Statistics he ranked 2nd for Driving Distance, 1st for Putts per GIR and 1st for Putts per Round, and he scored the best on the Par 5 holes with a 4.08 average. This win presents the 37 year old South African with a playing exemption on the European Tour until the end of 2014.

Jaco Van Zyl started the fourth round with such promise (enjoying a birdie, birdie start) but then struggled a little, eventually finishing tied 2nd alongside Bourdy. The 33 year old South African ranked slightly worse than expected for Driving Accuracy and Greens in Regulation but was very strong in the Genworth short game and putting statistics. Overall Jaco continues his superb record over the East London links with finishes of 4th / 4th / 2nd for the last three years.

Grégory Bourdy produced some excellent long game statistics for the week. He ranked 15th for Driving Accuracy, 12th for Driving Distance and 6th for Greens in Regulation, plus he topped the Par 4 Scoring together with Jaco Van Zyl and Tjaart Van Der Walt. The 30 year old French golfer was one of ten players not to birdie a single Par 3 hole though, and he also struggled a little on the greens in comparison to the other contenders. Everything considered, a runner-up finish was a superb performance.

Garth Mulroy shot the low round of the day (67 alongside Andrew Curlewis). In that final round he converted 12 single putts to confirm his position at the top of the Genworth 1 Putts Per Round statistic for the week (42 in total / 10.5 per round). He also ranked second for Putts per GIR and Putts per Round, and racked up more birdies than any other player in the field (25 in total).
