Genworth Stats Pack - Round 3 Review

Michael Hoey fired one eagle and six birdies against a single bogey on his way to a third round 65 (the low round of the week so far), to jump out in front with 18 holes to play. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 34 year old golfer from Northern Ireland has hit 35/42 fairways (ranking 17th) and 40/54 Greens in Regulation (ranking 9th), but it is his performance on the greens that has really stood out. He is putting the best of all the players in the field, managing to rack up 21 birdies in total (three more than any other player). The four time European Tour winner has won from the front before, and a victory tomorrow will put right a slightly disapointing year to date.

Rikard Karlberg recovered well after a poor start to his third round to finish with an even Par 72. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 26 year old Swedish golfer actually ranks quite low for the long game categories, but his touch on and around the greens has been sublime all week. He has holed four shots from off the green over the first three days and today he took just 23 putts in total. As we highlighted in yesterday’s report, Rikard is playing under a category 12 exemption this year (currently ranking 122nd on the Race to Dubai) so tomorrow will be a big day for him.

Matthew Nixon converted four birdies on his way to a bogey free third round 68 (his second bogey free round of the week), to stay within touching distance of leader Hoey. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 24 year old Englishman is looking strong across the board, ranking 7th for Driving Accuracy (with 37/42 fairways), 8th for Greens in Regulation (with 41/54 greens) and 3rd for Scrambles (with 10/13 up and downs), dropping the fewest shots of all the players in the field (alongside Mikko Korhonen). Currently ranking 125th on the Race to Dubai, tomorrow will also be a big day for Matthew.
