Ernie Els converted six birdies against one bogey and one double bogey on his way to a second round 69, to lead by one at the half way stage. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 43 year old South African and 27 time European Tour winner ranks 1st for Greens in Regulation and 5th for Par 5’s in 2 (his approach play has been the foundation of his great scoring so far). We should also draw attention to Ernie’s incredible Par 5 Scoring average of 3.88.

Matthew BALDWIN -11
Matthew Baldwin stalled a little on the outward half of his second round (the back nine) but pushed on to finish strongly with a 69. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 27 year old Englishman is averaging 310 yards off the tee and hitting 86.1% of the Greens in Regulation, plus he is scrambling and putting extremely well. With so many positives it is not surprising that Matthew has dropped just one shot in the first 36 holes.

Danny WILLETT -10
Defending champion Danny Willett fired seven birdies on his way to a bogey free second round of 65 (the low round of the day alongside Morten Ørum Madsen and Jaco Van Zyl). Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 25 year old Englishman is hitting in excess of 80% of the Greens in Regulation, plus he is also scrambling superbly for Pars when missing the greens. It is pretty much the same as Matthew Baldwin, in that Danny has dropped just one shot so far. You know what they say, beware the return of the injured golfer.
