Genworth Stats Pack - Round 1 Review

Round 1 of the Lyoness Open powered by Greenfinity produced 65 sub-par rounds and a field average score of 72.68. Tom Lewis leads on -9 with Joost Luiten following close behind on -7. We analyse their performances plus we round up the early Genworth Statistics leaders.

Tom Lewis -9

Tom Lewis converted nine birdies on his way to a superb bogey free round of 63, over the long and wet Diamond Country Club course. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 22 year old Englishman hit 8/14 fairways and 15/18 Greens in Regulation, plus he scrambled 3/3 times for par on the holes where he missed the green. Tom’s putting was obviously very strong as well (ranking high in each category) and the overall result at the end of the day was a two shot lead. Tom has missed the cut in his last six European Tour events so a big week here will do him the world of good.

Joost Luiten -7

Joost Luiten began the day with five birdies in his first six holes and then kept good form through the round to finish with a 65. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 27 year old golfer from the Netherlands ranked 5th for both Driving Accuracy and Greens in Regulation, so his long game seems to be in great shape. Interestingly he could only manage 5.00 for Par 5 Scoring which makes his round of 65 all the more impressive. Joost last competed here in 2011 (finishing 3rd) and our preview report highlighted his potential for this week.
