Genworth Stats Pack - Round 1 Review

Henrik Stenson converted five birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 68. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 37 year old Swedish golfer was exceptional from tee to green, driving the ball long, hitting 12/14 fairways and 17/18 Greens in Regulation, plus his Par 4 Scoring was the best out of all the players (with 4 birdies and 6 pars on those holes).

Justin Rose converted three birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 70. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 33 year old English golfer hit 17/18 Greens in Regulation, but we can see by his lower putting rankings that those approach shots may have finished slightly further from the hole in comparison to his usual high standards. The current world number five should sharpen things up tomorrow though.

Ian Poulter converted four birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 69. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 37 year old English golfer was superb from tee to green much the same as Stenson, hitting 11/14 fairways and 16/18 Greens in Regulation. But in slight contrast to Stenson, the 12-time European Tour winner did his best scoring on the Par 3’s and Par 5’s.

Graeme Mcdowell converted four birdies against four bogeys on his way to an opening Even Par 72. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 34 year old golfer from Northern Ireland recorded some lengthy drives with good accuracy, but his approach play and scrambling was not quite up to his usual high standards (12/18 Greens in Regulation and just 2/6 up and downs for Par).

Jamie Donaldson converted five birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 68. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 38 year old Welsh golfer was not quite so accurate off the tee (hitting only 7/14 fairways) but his approach play and short game more than made up for it (with 14/18 Greens in Regulation, 3/4 up and downs for Par and just 28 putts in total).

Alejandro Cañizares converted seven birdies against a single bogey on his way to an opening 66. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 30 year old Spanish golfer ranked 1st for Driving Accuracy (with 13/14 fairways) and 11th for Greens in Regulation (with 14/18 greens), plus his performance on and around the greens was sublime - leading to great scoring on the Par 3's / Par 4's / Par 5's.

Marcus Fraser converted seven birdies against two bogeys on his way to an opening 67. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 35 year old Australian golfer was steady with the longer clubs but he putted arguably the best out of all the players on Day 1 (accumulating 12 single putts). The 2-time European Tour winner also birdied every Par 3 hole, for a 2.00 Par 3 Scoring Average.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat converted one eagle and five birdies against two bogeys on his way to an opening 67. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 24 year old talent from Thailand drove the ball long and straight, and he was one of five players to hit two of the Par 5 greens in sub-regulation (two shots). Like Fraser, Kiradech also holed his fair share of putts as well.
