Genworth Stats Pack - Day 2 Review

Inclement weather forced day two of the Madeira Islands Open - Portugal - BPI to be completed on Saturday morning. The overnight clubhouse leader is Craig Lee on -9, with Peter Uihlein, Mark Tullo and Thomas Levet following behind. We analyse their performances.

Craig LEE -9

Craig Lee converted five birdies against one bogey over the Clube de Golf do Santo da Serra course during his second round 68, to lead by one. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the recently turned 36 year old golfer from Scotland is performing consistency from tee to green, hitting 20/28 fairways and 28/36 Greens in Regulation. Craig has also scrambled for Par 7/8 times when missing the greens and has dropped the fewest shots of all the players in the field.

Peter UIHLEIN -8

Peter Uihlein converted eight birdies and an eagle in the first 12 holes of his second round and was heading for a sub-60 score until bogeys at the 15th and 16th put an end to it. Despite these hiccups the 23 year old golfer from the United States still flew up the leaderboard with a round of 64. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, at first glance Peter’s Driving Accuracy seems a little low, but when combined with his 319 yards Driving Distance, in reality it is much better. Long hitters do not need to rely on Driving Accuracy so much, as long as they are keeping the ball in play.

Mark TULLO -8

Mark Tullo is also averaging over 300 yards for Driving Distance, but special attention must be drawn to the sheer number of greens that he is hitting. His 33/36 Greens in Regulation is the best of every player in the field by some margin. Also, you would be mistaken for thinking that the 35 year old golfer from Chile is struggling around the greens because both his Scrambles and Sand Saves are at 0%, but when you think about it, he has only missed three greens in total.

Thomas LEVET -7

Thomas Levet finished his second round in a blaze of glory with four straight birdies and an overall back nine of 30. Looking at his Genworth Statistics, the 44 year old six-time European Tour winner has hit 27/36 greens in regulation and two of the Par 5 greens in sub-regulation (two shots), plus he has Scrambled for Par 7/9 times on the greens that he has missed. Thomas has only made two cuts from eight starts so far this year (with a best of 51st) so a good finish this weekend will go a long way to kick starting his season.
