Three-time Staysure Tour winner Gary Wolstenholme received the Leicester Mercury Sports Awards Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual ceremony in his home county.
Wolstenholme, who had a distinguished amateur career before joining the Staysure Tour in 2011, represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Walker Cup on six occasions and is the all-time leading points scorer for the side.
The 57 year old also won the Amateur Championship in 1991 and 2003, adding to 12 further titles won on the amateur circuit.
He moved to Leicestershire with his family as a teenager, and his Leicester-born father, Guy, was also a professional golfer, who finished as high as sixth in The Open Championship in 1960.
In 2007, Wolstenholme was named in the New Years Honours list and received an MBE for his services to golf.
“This award is an amazing thing to have," said Wolstenholme. "The MBE for my amateur career was great, but I didn’t want that to be the end of it.
“To get something like this is a wonderful acknowledgement of what I have been able to achieve and is especially with my connections to Leicestershire and my father, it is very special.
“I now want to give something back to the sport that has been so good to me – possibly through coaching.”
