Defending champion Sergio Garcia remained three shots clear of his closest challenger when the final round of the weather-affected Andalucía Valderrama Masters hosted by the Sergio Garcia Foundation got back under way on Monday morning.
A series of weather delays on the opening three days at Real Club Valderrama forced tournament organisers to reduce the event to three rounds on Saturday.
And the hooter sounded again on Sunday afternoon as more inclement weather hit southern Spain, with local favourite Garcia three strokes ahead of 23-time European Tour winner Lee Westwood after seven holes.
And with the threat of lightning keeping the players off the course for the rest of the day, it was announced the last full-field event of the European Tour season would run into a fifth day.
When the action resumed at 9.10am local time, Garcia safely parred the final two holes of his front nine to reach the turn in 35 and maintain his three-stroke advantage on ten under par.
But it was now Irishman Shane Lowry who sat in second place on seven under after he fired a birdie at the tenth.
Westwood and Spaniard Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño were another shot back on six under, with Englishman Matthew Nixon, Spaniard Alvaro Quiros and Finn Mikko Korhonen in a tie for fifth on five under.
Fernández-Castaño and Nixon began the week outside the top 116 in the Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex and need strong finishes in order to retain their playing privileges.
