Garcia Pinto returns to action in Czech Republic

Jordi Garcia Pinto will tee it up on the Challenge Tour for the first time in three weeks in a strong field contesting the D+D REAL Czech Challenge this week.

Two top three finishes so far in 2014 have put the Girona native in a commanding position atop the Challenge Tour Rankings after six events, and he will head to Golf & Spa Kunetická Hora in high spirits.

His second place finish at the NH Collection Open back in April clearly gave Garcia Pinto great confidence, and he followed that up with a share of third place in Madeira to pull €18,783 clear.

The Spaniard is in a familiar position, as he led the Rankings early in 2013 only to fall back to 24th by the end of the season, and this year he will be determined to make his fine start count by finishing in the top 15 and earning promotion to The European Tour.

Garcia Pinto will be joined in the Czech Republic by the man who followed in his footsteps earlier this season by succeeding him as Barclays Kenya Open Champion. Jake Roos will head to Prague hoping to continue a strong run of form, having finished tied fourth at last week’s Kärnten Golf Open presented by Mazda.

The winner in Austria, Moritz Lampert, will also be in attendance, as will Oliver Farr, who too won a maiden title at the Turkish Airlines Challenge a fortnight ago.

Eleven of the top 15 in the Challenge Tour Rankings will be in action in the Czech Republic, including Byeong-hun An, who finished a stroke adrift of Lampert.

He will be joined by Denmark’s Lasse Jensen, who will look to build on his runner-up finish in Kenya, as will Jérôme Lando Casanova, having matched that feat in Turkey.

As the Challenge Tour continues to grow the game around the world, with the third edition of this tournament, there will also be 17 local players in the field this week looking to make a name for themselves on European golf’s second tier.
