Garcia hoping to start strongly on Sunday

Sergio Garcia aims to make another fast start on Sunday after a magnificent third-round 64 propelled him up the Honma Hong Kong Open presented by Amundi leaderboard.

The Spaniard made a hat-trick of birdies from the second before dropping his only shot of the day at the sixth. He responded in style, though, launching his tee-shot onto the green at the par-four tenth before tapping in from five feet for an eagle.

The 2017 Masters Champion then added birdies at the 12th and 16th to move to nine under par and grab a share of fourth place.

Garcia will begin his final round seven shots adrift of runaway leader Aaron Rai but he is keen to start strongly in a bid to cut the gap.

After shooting the lowest round of the day on Saturday, he said: "Hopefully we can come out and get off to a good start like I did today and kind of put our nose up there and see what we can do.

"It was a nice round. Obviously I got off to a great start with three birdies in a row there, on the second, third and fourth.

"I had a couple of good chances on the first and fifth that almost went in and then made a little bit of a soft bogey on the next.

"But you know, I played solid and gave myself a lot of chances. Obviously I didn't birdie the 13th, which is not the greatest. I drove it in the right bunker.

"But other than that I felt like I played well.

"I made a couple of nice par putts when I had to and rolled a couple of nice birdie putts towards the end."

Speaking about his eagle at the tenth, he added: "I knew that it was a really nice yardage for a solid 3-wood. I knew I had to hit it really well and fortunately for me, that's what I did."
