Graeme McDowell and Sergio Garcia progressed solidly during the early stages of the second round at the WGC – Cadillac Championship.

The duo were among a five-way tie for the lead following the opening day at Trump Doral alongside Tiger Woods, Bubba Watson and Fredrik Jacobson.

They made solid progress early today; McDowell parred his opening five holes, while Garcia overcame a bogey on 11 with a birdie at the next.

The Spaniard’s dropped shot, in his second hole of the day given he and McDowell started on ten, was his first of the tournament.

Watson, meanwhile, was also the epitome of consistency and started his round with four pars.

Woods and Jacobson had yet to tee off, but were still atop the leaderbord as they headed to the first, no doubt buoyed by a second successive day of outstanding scoring conditions.

They did, however, have another colleague at the summit after Steve Stricker picked up a shot on his first hole, the tenth, to move six under.
