Frost keeps his cool to seal DP World Caddie Cup title in South Korea

This week, the DP World Caddie Cup returned for its second instalment of the 2023 DP World Tour season during the Korea Championship presented by Genesis, that is taking place at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in Incheon.

Caddie World Cup

32 caddies from around the world competed in a nine-hole individual stroke play event as the DP World Tour made its first stop in South Korea for a decade. The DP World Caddie Cup was launched by DP World in January at the HERO Dubai Desert Classic to celebrate smart partnerships on the Tour. Dan Clark lifted the title at the inaugural trophy in the United Arab Emirates and the second edition in Korea proved to be just as fiercely competitive.

Innovation and technology are at the forefront of DP World’s operations in South Korea, allowing the logistics experts to unlock new possibilities around the world. Away from logistics, cutting edge technology is also prevalent in Korea’s sports and entertainment world, with high-tech indoor screen-golf eclipsing outdoor golf, with 57 million rounds played indoors (compared to 37 million outdoors on courses) last year in Korea.

It was fitting that the group of budding caddies competed in the second edition of the Caddie Cup at Kakao VX – one of the best high-tech, indoor screen-golf venues in Incheon, South Korea.

Scoring was tough on the impressive screen-golf venue with only one caddie finishing under-par on the night. Laurie Potter finished in third place on two over and Patxi Londaitz was the runner-up at one over, with Erik Frost claiming victory with an impressive score of one under. Stuart Beck shot 16 over to take home the superfluous ‘Wooden Spoon’ award.

Erik Frost, reflected on the victory: “I’m delighted to win the DP World Caddie Cup in Korea. I’d like to thank DP World for organising such a fantastic event. I can’t wait to defend my title and hopefully win more events this season!”

Daniel van Otterdijk, Chief Communications Officer at DP World, who was on hand to present the trophies on the night and said: “DP World and caddies are very similar, we both focus on getting our clients from A-to-B in the most efficient way. Just like a caddie helps a golfer select the right club and plan their shots, DP World helps businesses optimise their supply chain and navigate the complexities of global trade. That’s why we’ve been so keen to celebrate smart partnerships on the DP World Tour and why we are happy to organise evenings like this for all of you. We would like to thank all their caddies for their hard work on the Tour and wish them the best of luck this week!”

Five-time DP World Tour winner Marcel Siem was spectating at the DP World Caddie Cup. The German enjoyed the experience and feels it is a great way to celebrate the caddies’ hard work on the DP World Tour. He said: “We are all a big family on the DP World Tour so it’s important we all bond together on and off the golf course. It’s great to see the caddies having such a good time and a laugh together. I hope the Caddie Cup continues over the next few seasons, they’re certainly a worthwhile addition.”

Keep your eyes peeled for the Caddie Cup video which will be live on the DP World and DP World Tour social channels over the next few days.
