Dylan Frittelli chipped in three times on the front nine to share the lead during the final round of the Turkish Airlines Open.
The South African began the day five shots off the lead but made five birdies in a row from the fourth to turn in 29 before bogeying the tenth to drop to 14 under alongside Major Championship winners Justin Rose and Padraig Harrington, and Thai Kiradech Aphibarnrat.
Aphibarnrat was the overnight leader at the sixth Rolex Series event of the season and turned in level par while Rose and Harrington both picked up two shots in round four.
A win this week for Rose would make it back-to-back victories for the Englishman and put some serious pressure on Race to Dubai Rankings presented by Rolex leader Tommy Fleetwood heading into the final two events of the season.
Defending champion Thorbjørn Olesen, Nicolas Colsaerts and Shane Lowry were a shot off the lead, one ahead of Eddie Pepperell and Fabrizio Zanotti.
Olesen set the course record here last season with a 62 and with a rain softened course, there was a chance that score could be in play again on Sunday.
It was the Dane himself who got off to the fastest start of the leading contenders, birdieing the first and then holing a 12-footer on the second to quickly get to 12 under.
Harrington also birdied the first to get within one of the lead and when Rose holed a 15-footer down the hill on the par three second, he too was at 13 under.
Colsaerts had started the day with a birdie on the first but he sent his tee-shot on the second a long way left to drop a shot.
Harrington also missed the green by a long way on the second and gave back the birdie from the first while Aphibarnrat did well to get up and down for par after leaving his tee-shot short.
Rose missed the green on the third and three-putted from the fringe for a bogey but Olesen was moving in the other direction and he holed a 15-foot putt on the fourth to sit just one shot off the lead.
Colsaerts got back into red figures with a monster putt on the fourth, a hole also birdied by Frittelli to start his remarkable run.
The LYONESS OPEN powered by ORGANIC+ champion chipped in on the fifth and then incredibly repeated the trick on the next to get within one of the lead.
That lead was solely held by Aphibarnrat after Lowry bogeyed the fourth following tree trouble and he extended the lead to two with a brilliant approach to three feet on the fifth.
He gave a shot back with a three-putt on the sixth and Frittelli joined the lead as he took advantage of the seventh.
An incredible third chip-in in four holes on the par three eighth then had him in the solo lead as he put on a clinic around the greens.
It was seemingly contagious as Harrington holed his chip on the sixth to get to 13 under and Rose joined that group as he made the most of the seventh.
Frittelli found the water on the tenth but did well to drop just a single shot and it was a three-way tie for the lead after Rose hit a stunning approach to tap-in range on the ninth.
Harrington hit a smart approach into the same hole and all of a sudden it was a four-way tie and all to play for.
Paraguayan Zanotti was four under for his 12 holes while England's Pepperell picked up two shots on his first 12.
