French players explore Massy's Scottish links

Two French Challenge Tour stars went on a voyage of discovery during the Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts as they explored the links between the 1907 Open Champion Arnaud Massy and his adopted home of Scotland.

François Calmels and Edouard Dubois visit Newtownmore Golf Club

Massy, regarded as one of France’s most successful golfers, lived in Edinburgh with his English wife during a long and successful career which yielded four French Open victories as well as a sole Major title at Royal Liverpool Golf Club.

Almost 100 years after that victory, François Calmels and Edouard Dubois, paid a visit to Newtownmore Golf Club close in northern Scotland, where Massy visited in 1909 at the peak of his career.

The two players gave lessons to local children before being shown around the clubhouse, where there are some artefacts and archive photographs of Massy’s visit.

The whole event was recorded for the highlights show for the Scottish Hydro Challenge, which will be aired on Sky Sports this week. Times are below:
