The €160,000 event, which takes place from May 30 - June 2, has proven an extremely popular one amongst the players, with particular praise going to the idyllic venue.

Tournament Director José Maria Zamora, who met this week with Primos Pusnik, Director of Tecina Golf, Pablo Bernardez from the Professional Committee at the Royal Spanish Golf Federation and Jose Canales, co-designer of Tecina Golf.

“Fred Olsen Challenge de España is one of the most emblematic events and with the Challenge Tour that is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, this year’s tournament will be even more special,” said Zamora.

“This will be the fifth year in a row that we come to La Gomera and this is indicative of the past success of this event.

“The course is in fabulous condition, it is a great hotel where players feel at home and the setting is just wonderful. I think one of the most beautiful places we travel to with the Challenger Tour and the treatment we receive from everyone here is absolutely outstanding.

“This is the reason why players, staff and fans always want to return to this tournament and, thanks to the sponsors and institutions who make this all possible, we are here for another great edition.”

The Fred Olsen Challenge de España is sponsored by Fred Olsen and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation with the support of Consejería de Turismo del Gobierno de Canarias, Promotur, Cabildo de La Gomera, Hotel Jardín Tecina, Federación Canaria de Golf, the European Tour and Kyocera, and is promoted by RFEG and MatchGolf.
