Lev Grinberg revealed his only targets were to learn and have fun after the 14-year-old amateur fired a one-under-par 70 on day one of the 2022 Soudal Open.
This week's host venue - Rinkven International - is the young Ukrainian's home club and he made the most of his local knowledge on Thursday, carding three birdies and two bogeys to sit five shots off the lead after his first round on the DP World Tour.
He said: "I really enjoyed it, learning a lot from the course - how it plays - and the people I was playing with, they're really good partners. I enjoyed myself out there and played pretty good."
Grinberg seemed completely unaffected by playing in front of large crowds, adding: "It's just a white ball and a small hole - that's the goal, just try to put it in the hole in as few strokes as possible.
"I'm just going to enjoy. Of course I'd love to play good but I'll learn from whatever comes out and just have fun."
And Grinberg was not the only amateur to finish the day under par, with home hope Charles Roeland one shot better off on two under.
